After Whatsapp Web, Android lets you send and receive instant messages through their Android Messages application. Android Messages app let you connect your Android smartphone with your PC or laptop by introducing a new feature called Messages for Web. With Messages for Web feature your Android device gets connected with your laptop through the internet and you can use Android messaging app on your web browser for sending and receiving SMS. So in this article, I will guide you on How to set up Android Messages for Web on your computer.
Before I walk you through the stepwise guide there are some requirements that you should preserve. These requirements are listed below.
- Your Android Phone connected to the Internet throughout the process
- Your PC or Laptop connected to the Internet throughout the process
- Download Android Messaging app from Google play store, if your phone is not running Google stock apps.
- If you are using Android version 7.0 Nougat or Higher then you should have Android Messages stock app pre-installed from Google stock apps.
After you have downloaded and installed Android Messages app on your Android smartphone, then just follow the steps below to set up Android Messages for web.
Step 1: Open Messages for Web from Android
Open Android Message app from your home screen or from your app drawer as shown above.
Click on the overflow menu of the app, as shown above, to access further options of Android Message app.
From the Menu click on the Messages for Web option as highlighted above.
Step 2: Open Messages for Web from your PC
Open up a browser on your PC and type in the following URL: https://messages.android.com and press Enter to open the Messages for web page.
Now you see a QR code on the right side of the screen and under the QR code tag you can see the option of Remember this computer. Click on the toggle button of Remember this computer to enable this option.
Step 3: Scan QR code from Android
Now go back on your Android device and tap on the Scan QR code button as shown above. This will open up the camera on your Android Smartphone.
Scan QR code option will ask you to allow Android Messages to take pictures and record video. Tap on the Allow button to give permission to access the camera. This will be asked only one time.
Now bring your Android smartphone camera on the webpage of QR code and calibrate it with the highlighted box as shown above.
Now when the QR code has been successfully scanned, you can feel a vibration on your Android Phone and see a message as shown above.
Step 4: Access Messages for Web from PC
Just after you see a message on your Android, the Android Messages for Web will send a connection link to the web browser which will set up a connection between Your Android smartphone and your PC. Now your PC web browser will direct you to the Android Messages interface to use Messages for Web on your PC’s browser as shown above.
