Yes, the new Windows 10 Photos Viewer app has more features than the classic Windows Photo viewer but its sluggishness recalls the absence of the classic Windows Photo viewer app’s nimbleness. If you have upgraded your Windows from Windows 7 or 8.1 to Windows 10 then you might still be able to use or must be using the Windows Photo Viewer app but if you had a clean Windows 10 install on your PC then you might not have the access to it which means that it might not be available in the Default apps or programs settings of Windows 10. Step 1: Download Windows Photo Viewer

Click the link to download the Windows Photo Viewer Registry File.

After clicking on the link you, you will download a zip file for the Windows Photo Viewer. Open up the download folder and extract the zip file from the zip extractor. Now double –click on the Restore_Windows_Photo_Viewer_CURRENT_USER registry file as highlighted above.

Another pop-up message will appear asking you if you trust the source of this information. Simply click the Yes button to finish installing the registry file on Windows.

Now, most probably the registry file will be added in your Windows Registry by now. Just follow the steps below to Apply windows Photo Viewer as the default photo viewer app for your Windows 10.

Step 3: Apply the Windows Photo Viewer as the Default App

From the Windows start menu, open up the Windows settings by clicking on the settings icon as shown above.

From the Apps settings window, click on the Default apps option located under the Apps navigation pane as highlighted above. In the Default apps settings click on the Photo Viewer option located under the Choose default apps heading as shown above.

After clicking on the Photo Viewer option a pop-up box will appear asking you to choose the default app from the listed apps as shown above. You can see that the Classic Windows Photo Viewer has been now added to the list as shown above. Simply click on the Windows Photo Viewer option to apply it as the default app for the photo Viewer for Windows 10.
