YouTube is the largest video content service provider in the world of the Internet. So, let me guide you on how to block Ads on YouTube using some common browsers.

So, let’s start with the stepwise guide…

Blocking YouTube Ads in Chrome

Step 1: Open Chrome Web Store

Chrome browser provides different plugins, add-ons and extensions downloaded and installed directly from Google Chromes very own Web store so they are secure to use in your Chrome.

Open up Chrome browser, click on the overflow menu of the browser, located at the top right side as shown above. From the menu, hover the mouse pointer on the more tools settings as highlighted above, this will cascade another menu with some options, select the Extensions option from the menu.

After getting to the extension page, click on the hamburger menu icon, located at the top left side of the Extensions page as highlighted above.

After clicking on the Extension Menu icon, you can see a menu slides out as shown above. Simply click on the “Open Chrome Web Store” option as highlighted above.

Step 2: Search For Ad Blocker Extension

Now in the Chrome web store, from the navigation menu search bar, type in “ad block” as shown above and hit Enter.

Step 3: Add Extension in Chrome

After searching for “Ad block”, you can see an Extension “AdBlock” with most downloads, probably hanging on top of the list as shown above. Simply, click on its Add to Chrome button as highlighted above.

After clicking on the Add to Chrome button, a pop-up message will appear as shown above. Click on the Add extension button, this will automatically download and install the extension on your Chrome browser.

The Chrome will indicate you that the “AdBlock” extension has been successfully added to your browser and it is ready to use as now you can see its icon popped up next to Chrome address bar as shown above.

Now you can check if the extension works or not, just opening up any video on YouTube that you previously experienced ads on. If the extension doesn’t seem to work for you then go on and remove the extension and find another one that would help.

Blocking YouTube Ads in Firefox

Step 1: Open Firefox Add-ons

Firefox also provides add-ons and extension for its browser, these are like apps that have a certain feature to perform so they are also safe to utilize on your browser.

Open up Firefox browser and click on the Hamburger menu (Three horizontal lines) located at the top right corner of the browser as shown above. From the menu, click on the Add-ons option as highlighted above. To open Add-on page you can also use shortcut keys, simply press (Ctrl key + Shift key + A) simultaneously from the keyboard.

From Firefox Add-ons page scroll down till you see “Find more add-ons” button as shown above. Simply click on the button to proceed to the Firefox Add-ons Explore page.

Step 2: Search For Add-ons

In the Explore page’s search bar, located on the top right corner, as shown above, type in “ad block” and hit Enter.

Under the search results, you can see “AdBlock for Firefox” extension as highlighted above. Simply click to choose the extension.

Step 3: Add the Add-on to Firefox

From the AdBlock for Firefox page, click “+ Add to Firefox” button as highlighted above.

Firefox browser will pop up a message that will require your permission to Add the following extension to the browser as shown above. Simply, click on the Add button, this will automatically download and install on the browser.

After Firefox successfully adds the “AdBlock” extension to your browser it will let you know and will also add its icon next to the Address bar as shown above.

Now you can check if the extension works or not, just opening up any video on YouTube that you previously experienced ads on. If the extension doesn’t seem to work for you then go on and remove the extension and find another one which would help.
